A few weekends ago we went to my cousin Lauren’s wedding. Unfortunately, my camera was not my friend, so I apologize for the lack of and poor quality of my photos.
I loved the flower balls at the end of the aisle
The highlight of the wedding was the bridal party, including the parents, being introduced to Vanilla Ice “Ice, Ice, Baby”. The groom “fished” the bride in which was great. Of course that set the tone for a lot of fun and dancing.
My husband has video of this, which is even scarier
The wedding cake was beautiful and reminded me of the tropics!
I was also a fan of the name cards. Aren’t they pretty?

This is my dream closet. I love the simplicity and the organization. The white is beautiful. I love the ottoman in the center, I would sit on it and admire my closet as I would a work of art. And I love the hardwood floors. Jealousy!!!!
A few weeks ago I was obsessing about hangers. I hate my white plastic hangers with a passion. So I went to The Container Store, with a limit, and purchased new hangers. Of course my husband freaked and told me I can’t buy anymore hangers until 2011 but I love them!!!! Luckily for me my mother-in-law was nice enough to buy me more hangers, I think she did it more to spite my husband.

A couple weekends ago we took my in-laws to this bar in Alexandria, Virginia called PX Lounge. It is a swanky bar with custom made drinks. Sounds intriguing, let me explain.
First, you have to make reservations, you can’t just show up. Second, you have to know how to find PX. And you ask, how do you find PX? You look for the blue light!
Once you find the blue light you ring the doorbell and when the slot slides open you provide your name. It’s very 1920′s speak-easy.
You are escorted upstairs to the “lounge” which is comprised of three rooms. One with the bar and two lounge areas on each side. The rooms are surrounded in big white leather couches and illuminated with candles and mirrors from floor to ceiling. The best seat in the house is the bar, where you can watch all the magic happen.
Todd Thrasher is the master behind the mixes. His juices and bitters are hand made. Each drink has it’s own special ice cube, for instance he makes tonic ice cubes so when they melt your drink isn’t watered down. He uses very unusual ingredients in the drinks like basil and tobacco (not in the same drink). Speaking of drinks here is a sneak peak of the menu.
So what did we have? I had a peach cocktail (PX had a swankier name for it) which was refreshing and went down to easy. My mother-in-law had the PC Champagne Cocktail that had a cherry flavor to it. My father-in-law had the Grog which was voted the best by the group. For the second round my father-in-law had a gin and tonic which he and my husband declared the best gin and tonic ever and promptly ordered another. My husband had a blueberry and absinthe cocktail. If you’ve never had absinthe I highly recommend it but keep a chaser ready because the licorice flavor is unbearable. And as you can tell each drink has its own glass.
It was a very fun night and a great experience. If you are ever in and around the D.C. area, I highly recommend it.

You know how sometimes you just see a photo or painting and it just sucks you in? That’s exactly what this picture did. I don’t know what it is about it, but I LOVE it. Image from the website La Dolce Vita – how fitting?

First, let me say that I love Sephora. I love walking around and smelling all the different perfumes and then spraying on my fav. If I worked there I would never buy perfume I would wear a different fragrance every day.
I love looking at the spectrum of colors you can put on your lips and eye lids. I particularly like the glitter ones. I like looking at the different tools and thinking I need, yes need, one of those.
Lastly, I ogle over the moisturizing creams and cleaners and try to justify the cost of those products to myself, and then I turn and walk away. If I worked there I would spread moisturizer all over my body.
All that being said, how come the employees of Sephora never look like you and I. They look like they are going to a rave or a goth convention. They look like they have used every product in the store….all at once.
I went in for an eyebrow pencil and when I looked at the girl who asked if I needed assistance I realized that she definitely knew how to use an eyebrow pencil, she just didn’t know when to stop.
Really, how comfortable does that make me feel when she says “this is the brand I use”. Anyway, I think it worked out, we’ll have to see when my husband gets home and says “what happened to your face?”

A couple weekends ago we went to a baby shower for friends of ours. (I know, we have a lot of friends having babies.) At the shower they invited friends to decorate onesies. Sounds familiar! The attendees were far more creative and artistic than the ones at Laura’s shower. Check out the pics below.
